S&P lifts Central Maine Power view to positive

S&P said it affirmed the ratings on Central Maine Power Co., including its A- issuer credit rating.

The agency also said it revised the outlook to positive from stable.

The positive outlook reflects the company's continued focus on growing its lower-risk transmission business, which has resulted in a marginal improvement in the company's business risk profile, S&P said.

The outlook revision also considers the company's continued focus on reducing its costs, which will somewhat offset potentially weaker cash flow because of the revised U.S. corporate tax code.

S&P said it expects Central Maine's financial measures will continue to consistently reflect the higher end of the range for its financial risk profile category.
