OB-GYN Associates of Iowa exclusivity extended as court mulls dismissal

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., March 1 – Obstetric and Gynecologic Associates of Iowa City received a shorter-than-requested extension of its exclusive period to file a Chapter 11 plan, according to a minute entry filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

As previously reported, the company had asked the court to extend the exclusive plan filing period through May 1 and the exclusive solicitation period through June 28.

At a hearing held Tuesday, the court considered a pending motion to dismiss the debtor’s case, as well as the exclusivity extension motion. The court has taken the dismissal motion under advisement.

The court said that it would extend the company’s exclusivity plan period through April 15 to accommodate a hearing scheduled for April 5, where the court will again consider the dismissal motion.

As previously reported, the dismissal motion comes from judgment creditor Thomas T. Tarbox, in his capacity as conservator for the estate of S.K., a legally incapacitated minor.

The obstetric and gynecologic clinic is based in Coralville, Iowa. The company filed bankruptcy on Oct. 31 under Chapter 11 case number 22-01174.
