S&P views Teaching Strategies negatively

S&P said it revised its outlook for Teaching Strategies (Foundational Education Group Inc.) to negative from stable and affirmed the B- issuer rating.

“Nationwide teacher shortages have slowed the company's revenue growth. Stagnating wages, soaring higher education costs, and challenging classroom and school conditions have contributed to increasing job dissatisfaction among educators in recent years. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated many of the staffing challenges schools were facing, and the booming post-pandemic job market led teachers to leave in droves in search of new and more lucrative career opportunities,” S&P said in a press release.

The agency warned these challenges may further erode profitability and liquidity over the next 12 months.
