Diocese of Norwich mediator says progress has been made on plan

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., May 22 – Norwich Roman Catholic Diocesan Corp., known as the Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich, has made progress on developing a joint Chapter 11 plan of reorganization during mediation, according to a mediator’s report filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut.

Mediator Christopher F. Droney said that it appears that the parties have made “good and substantial progress” regarding the plan, and that a plan will likely be submitted to the court for review soon.

As previously reported, the diocese and the official committee of creditors have each filed separate plans for the debtor.

Mediation has been going on since July 2022.

The Norwich, Conn.-based diocese filed bankruptcy on July 15, 2021 under Chapter 11 case number 21-20687.
