Prospect News reports two new defaults for July 1-July 7 period

Olympia, Wash., July 9 – Prospect News reported six new defaults for the week of July 1 through July 7.

Specifically, Prospect News reported Chapter 11 filings made by U.S. Tobacco Cooperative Inc. and MatlinPatterson Global Opportunities Partners II LP.

So far in 2021, Prospect News has reported 92 defaults, including 65 Chapter 11 filings, 10 missed interest payments, five Chapter 15 filings, three Chapter 7 filings, two each of missed principal payments and missed interest and principal payments, and one each of Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act filings, Canada Business Corporations Act filings and safeguard proceedings.

The two companies that filed bankruptcy during the week reported at least $242 million in assets and at least $581 million in liabilities.
