U-Haul Co. of West Virginia seeks extension of exclusivity period
By Sarah Lizee
Olympia, Wash., Dec. 3 – U-Haul Co. of West Virginia is seeking an extension of its exclusive period to obtain confirmation of a Chapter 11 plan, to Feb. 17, according to a motion filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
The company filed its initial Chapter 11 plan on June 29. The plan was amended twice in August.
A confirmation hearing was originally scheduled for Oct. 20, but the court deferred confirmation until it could determine the issue of whether or not the Ferrell glass claimants will have a claim in the case. The confirmation hearing was moved to Dec. 17.
The current 180-day deadline in which the debtor has to obtain confirmation of its plan expires on Dec. 13.
The company serves do-it-yourself moving and self-storage customers in West Virginia and small parts of Kentucky, Virginia and Ohio. It filed bankruptcy on June 16 under Chapter 11 case number 21-20140.
