Lumibird to acquire Ellex business for A$100 million of equity, debt

Chicago, Dec. 24 – Lumibird announced that it will acquire Ellex Medical Lasers Ltd.’s laser and ultrasound business for A$100 million, according to a press release.

The transaction will be partly funded with a combination of bank debt and equity.

The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both groups and is expected to close in mid-2020.

The new Lumibird Medical branch is targeting €90 million of revenues by 2020 with an EBITDA margin of 15%.

Lumibird’s Medical business recorded €33.6 million of revenues and an EBITDA margin of 10.6% in 2018.

Lumibird has headquarters in Lannion, France. Formed through the business combination of the Keopsys and Quantel Groups in 2017, the company specializes in lasers.

Ellex focuses on innovative products for eye diseases and is based in Adelaide, Australia.
