Murray Metallurgical seeks 60-day extension of exclusivity periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Oct. 6 – Murray Metallurgical Coal Holdings, LLC is seeking a 60-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Specifically, the company is asking the court to extend the plan filing period through Dec. 7 and the solicitation period through Feb. 5.

The debtors said in their motion that they are seeking the extension to ensure that they have enough time to finalize and consummate a value-maximizing transaction.

The motion said the extension would allow the debtors “continue to focus on advancing these cases as efficiently and consensually as possible for the benefit of debtors’ estates, their creditors, and all other key parties in interest.”

Murray Metallurgical is based in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The company filed bankruptcy on Feb. 11, 2020 under Chapter 11 case number 20-10390.
