Brazil’s Eletrobras board approves up to R$2.5 billion of debentures

Olympia, Wash., Oct. 21 – Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (Eletrobras) said its board of directors met on Friday and approved up to R$1.25 billion of nonconvertible debentures to be issued by subsidiary Centrais Eletricas do Norte do Brasil SA (Eletronorte) and up to R$1.25 billion of nonconvertible debentures to be issued by subsidiary Furnas – Centrais Eletricas SA.

The debentures are expected to be issued on Nov. 15, according to a press release.

Brasilia-based Eletrobras is Brazil’s largest utility company.
