KBRA alters Amerant view to positive

KBRA said it changed the outlook to positive from stable and affirmed Amerant Bancorp Inc.’s senior unsecured debt rating of BBB-.

“The rating affirmation and the change to a positive outlook reflects the significant progress the company has made with its transformation plan, specifically asset quality, earnings performance, and funding profile,” KBRA said in a press release.

The outlook indicates a potential upgrade. “An upgrade could be considered in view of continued progress with the company’s transformation plan that generates earnings, credit quality and a funding profile more consistent with higher-rated peers while maintaining a solid capital profile,” the agency said.
