USA Gymnastics gets additional time to file amended plan, disclosure

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Sept. 22 – USA Gymnastics obtained an extension of the deadline to file its amended plan and related disclosure statement, according to a Tuesday order with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

The extension was requested when USA Gymnastics and the additional tort claimants committee of sexual abuse survivors filed a joint motion requesting the court to conduct a settlement conference.

According to the order, the court has directed USA Gymnastics, the survivors’ committee, the United States Olympic and Paralympic committee and their respective insurers to participate in a telephonic settlement conference.

The timing of the settlement conference was not given in the order.

The debtor is authorized to file at any time through and including 21 days after the conclusion of the settlement conference.

The Indianapolis-based gymnastics organization filed bankruptcy on Dec. 5, 2018 under Chapter 11 case number 18-09108.
