Open Road Films seeks exclusivity extension following sale closing

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 3 – Open Road Films, LLC is seeking an extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Open Road is asking the court to extend its exclusive filing period by 90 days through April 4 and the solicitation period through June 5.

The company said it has thus far focused the vast majority of its time and efforts on its asset sale process.

“Now that the sale has closed, the debtors are turning their attention to the process of negotiating and preparing adequate information in connection with a Chapter 11 plan; however, the debtors have not yet had sufficient time to complete that process,” the motion said.

A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 31.

Open Road is a Los Angeles-based film operation. The company filed bankruptcy on Sept. 6 under Chapter 11 case number 18-12012.
