Advanced Biomaterial Systems granted patent for Plexis system

Erie, Pa., May 10 - Advanced Biomaterial Systems, Inc. has been issued U.S. Patent No. 7,029,163, apparatus and methods for mixing and delivering biomaterials into skeletal structures.

This patent covers technology integrated in ABS Plexis Bone Void Filling System, following the company's previously issued patent (No. 6,984,063).

Plexis is an integrated system used to mix and deliver ABS Concert Spine VR radiopaque bone cement in percutaneous procedures such as vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, according to a company news release.

"ABS continues to strengthen and expand its intellectual property platform of patented delivery technologies and proprietary biomaterials," chief executive Pete Carr said in the release.

"We now have a total of eleven U.S. and international patents covering our integrated mixing and delivery devices."

Located in Chatham, N.J., Advanced Biomaterial develops proprietary biomaterials and delivery systems
