Cineworld secures 60-day extension of exclusive plan periods
By Sarah Lizee
Olympia, Wash., June 5 – Cineworld Group plc secured a 60-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
This was the debtor’s third request for an exclusivity extension.
The order pushed the exclusive plan filing period through Aug. 4 and the exclusive solicitation period through Oct. 3.
The hearing to confirm the company’s Chapter 11 plan is scheduled for June 12, one week after the prior exclusive plan filing period expired.
“The debtors file this motion to ensure that they maintain exclusivity while continuing to work to confirm the plan in the coming weeks,” the company had said in its motion.
Cineworld is a London-based cinema operator. The company filed bankruptcy on Sept. 7, 2022 under Chapter 11 case number 22-90168.
