Bank of America improves; AGNC preferreds positive; Athene lifted

San Antonio, Sept. 30 – The preferred space started the week with varying movement as top traders trended positively.

As the volume leader, Bank of America Corp.’s 5% series LL non-cumulative preferred stock improved by the close.

Elsewhere in finance, Wells Fargo & Co.’s 5.85% series Q fixed-to-floating rate non-cumulative perpetual class A preferreds sank.

Meanwhile, REIT AGNC Investment Corp.’s new 6.5% series E fixed-to-floating rate cumulative redeemable preferreds were positive.

Sector peer Public Storage, Inc.’s 4.875% series I cumulative preferred shares were seen improving.

Retirement name Athene Holding Ltd.’s 5.625% series B fixed-rate perpetual non-cumulative preference shares were lifted.

Bank of America up

As Monday’s volume leader, Bank of America’s 5% series LL non-cumulative preferred stock improved by the close.

The preferreds (NYSE: BACPrN) were up 2 cents to close at $25.66 on volume of about 3.3 million shares.

On Friday, the preferreds jumped up 28 cents.

Elsewhere in the finance space, Wells Fargo’s 5.85% series Q fixed-to-floating rate non-cumulative perpetual class A preferreds sank during the session.

The preferreds (NYSE: WFCPrQ) dropped 32 cents to close at $26.42 with about 1.1 million shares.

AGNC positive

Meanwhile, real estate investment trust AGNC’s new 6.5% series E fixed-to-floating rate cumulative redeemable preferreds finished positive.

The preferreds, trading under the temporary symbol “AGNIP,” picked up 14 cents to close at $25.05 on volume of about 1.2 million shares.

Sector peer Public Storage’s 4.875% series I cumulative preferred shares were seen improving throughout the day.

The preferreds (NYSE: PSAPrI) tacked on 10 cents to close at $26.26 with about 1.1 million shares.

Athene lifted

Retirement services provider Athene’s 5.625% series B fixed-rate perpetual non-cumulative preference shares were lifted at the end of the day.

The preferreds (NYSE: ATHPrB) shot up 15 cents to close at $26.17 on volume of about 1.2 million shares.

Indexes mixed

The Wells Fargo Hybrid & Preferred Securities Financial index dropped by 0.18% at the close, increasing on a 0.10% loss from early Monday trading.

The iShares US Preferred Stock ETF was up 12 cents to $37.53.
