Former American Apparel debtor suit seeks $1.95 million from Sun Trade

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 10 – APP Winddown, LLC debtor APP USA Winddown, LLC filed a lawsuit on May 9 in an attempt to recover a $1.95 million account receivable allegedly owed by defendant Sun Trade Group, Inc., which does business as Sun Apparel, according to a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

APP Winddown was formerly American Apparel, LLC.

The company said Sun Trade was a wholesale customer of APP USA. APP USA alleges that Sun Trade “is not current on its payments, and the entire AR balance is due and owed.

In addition to seeking the amount owed, the company is asking the court to order Sun Trade to pay interest and attorney fees.

American Apparel is a Los Angeles-based manufacturer, distributor and retailer of branded fashion basic apparel. The company filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 14, 2016 under Chapter 11 case number 16-12551.
