Louisiana Heart Hospital creditor eyes transfer of case to local court

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 2 – Louisiana Heart Hospital intellectual property technology services provider and unsecured creditor McKesson Technologies Inc. asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to transfer the company’s Chapter 11 cases to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, according to a motion filed Thursday.

“This court should transfer venue to the Louisiana court because it is in the best interests of patients and the other stakeholders to have the local bankruptcy court handle the wind down, closure and potential sale/liquidation of this single hospital located in Lacombe, La.,” McKesson said in the motion.

Other than the state of incorporation for its parent corporation, McKesson said Louisiana Heart Hospital has no connection to Delaware.

“All of the debtors’ assets and current employees and physicians are located in or near Lacombe,” the motion said. “No creditors are located in Delaware. All of the debtors’ records, including patient records, are located in Lacombe.”

The Lacombe, La.-based hospital filed bankruptcy on Jan. 30 under Chapter 11 case number 17-10201.
