Moody's: BHP Billiton notes A1

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an A1 senior unsecured rating to BHP Billiton's guaranteed senior unsecured notes totaling €2 billion and £1.75 billion issued under its Euro medium-term note program. The outlook is stable.

The rated notes include €1.25 billion of 2.25% notes due 2020, €750 million of 3.25% notes due 2027, £750 million of 3.25% notes due 2024 and £1 billion 4.3% notes due 2042.

The agency said BHP Billiton's A1/P-1 ratings reflect the global strength of the group's metals and mining portfolio and its substantial product and geographic diversity, including a solid position in oil and gas. The ratings also consider the group's conservative financial management and the strength of its cash flow measures.
