European industrial issuers pledge to double down on green financing

By Angela McDaniels

Tacoma, Wash., Dec. 11 – Electricite de France SA, Enel SpA, Engie SA, Iberdrola SA, Icade, Paprec Holding SA, SNCF Reseau, SSE plc and TenneT Holding BV have pledged to further develop the green bond market.

The signatories of the pledge commit to a long-term presence in the market, that green bonds will be at the heart of their project financing and business lines and that they will implement stringent reporting procedures, according to a news release

Their pledge also calls upon other industrial corporates to consider issuing green bonds.

The news release said these nine companies have issued a combined €26 billion of green bonds, or more than 10% of total outstanding green bonds.

The announcement was made on Climate Finance Day and the day before the One Planet Summit in Paris.
