Berkline/BenchCraft seeks sixth exclusivity extension to finalize plan

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, June 22 - Berkline/BenchCraft Holdings, LLC is seeking a sixth extension of its exclusive periods for filing a plan of reorganization and soliciting votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period to Aug. 27 from June 26 and the solicitation period to Oct. 24 from Aug. 25.

Berkline/BenchCraft said it circulated a draft of its proposed plan and has received revision suggestions from its official committee of unsecured creditors and its secured lenders.

According to the motion, the extension will give the company enough time to finalize, file and prosecute that plan.

A hearing is scheduled for July 31.

Berkline/BenchCraft, a Morristown, Tenn.-based designer and manufacturer of residential upholstered furniture, filed for bankruptcy on May 2, 2011. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-11369.
