Sports Authority to hold store-closing sales; no going-concern bids

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 23 – Sports Authority Holdings, Inc. accepted a bid by a joint venture comprised of Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, LLC, Hilco Merchant Resources, LLC and Tiger Capital Group LLC to serve as the agent for going-out-of-business sales at its store locations to liquidate substantially all of its remaining inventory, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

“Ultimately, no going-concern bidders emerged for the debtors’ sporting goods retail operations,” Sports Authority said.

The terms of the agent’s bid were not included in Monday’s filing.

Sports Authority, an Englewood, Colo.-based sporting goods retailer, filed bankruptcy on March 2. The Chapter 11 case number is 16-10527.
