Adelphia seeking to eliminate over $2 trillion of $3.2 trillion in creditor claims

By Ted A. Knutson

Washington, Feb.3 - Adelphia Communications Corp. gave broad arguments to reduce $3.2 trillion in creditor claims by over $2 trillion in its second omnibus objection filing with judge Richard E. Gerber of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Adelphia said many of the claims were duplicate and late.

Judge Gerber is scheduled to hold initial hearings on the objections March 8.

Adelphia filed for bankruptcy on June 25, 2002. Its Chapter 11 case number is 02-41729.
