By Rebecca Melvin

New York, Jan. 4 - Adelphia Communications Corp. has had the matter of its claims objection scheduled for trial on May 7 and May 9 and May 14 and May 16, according to an attorney.

The trail dates were scheduled at Thursday's status hearing at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, according to the attorney.

Adelphia is contesting the claim of Lucent Technologies Inc. for $44.7 million in equipment sales.

Simultaneously, Adelphia has filed a motion for interlocutory appeal with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The trial dates were scheduled with the expectation that a decision from the district court will be made before May, the attorney said.

Adelphia is a Greenwood Village, Colo.-based cable operator. It emerged from bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on Feb. 13, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 02-41729.
