Enerkem secures funds totaling C$152.6 million for biofuels facility

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 9 – Enerkem Inc. said it raised financings totaling C$152.6 million over the past year and has begun production of biomethanol from non-recyclable household garbage at the Enerkem Alberta Biofuels full-scale facility in Edmonton, Alta.

The financings are comprised of a C$29 million debt facility from Integrated Asset Management Corp.’s Private Debt Group, C$50 million in private placements from current investors and C$73.6 million of debt from two additional lenders.

Enerkem is a Montreal-based waste-to-biofuels and chemicals producer.
