JW Resources unsecured creditors OK’d to retain legal counsel

By Mark Reccek

Bethlehem, Pa., Aug. 5 – JW Resources, Inc.’s official committee of unsecured creditors' request for authorization to hire Barber Law PLLC was approved, according to an order filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Barber Law’s legal services will be retroactive to July 10.

According to the Wednesday order, the court determined “that retention of Barber Law is necessary and in the best interest of the committee and the debtors’ estates.”

Barber will advise the committee of its general powers and rights during the bankruptcy case of JW Resources, assist in the investigation into the overall financial condition of the company and the formulation of any reorganization plan or sale transaction, attend meetings with and on behalf of the committee and appear in court as necessary.

JW Resources, a Knoxville, Tenn.-based thermal coal producer, filed bankruptcy on June 30. The Chapter 11 case number is 15-60831.
