Oi: Hearing on case conversion denial appeals scheduled for March 29

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 21 – Oi SA said the Court of Appeal of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, scheduled a hearing for March 29 in connection with the appeals of a District Court of Amsterdam order denying conversion of two subsidiaries’ suspension of payments proceedings into Dutch bankruptcy proceedings, according to a 6-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

As previously reported, some creditors appealed the orders denying the conversion of Oi Brasil Holdings Cooperatief UA and Portugal Telecom International Finance BV.

The district court denied the conversion requests on Feb. 2.

Oi is a Rio de Janeiro-based telecommunications service provider. It filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on June 21, 2016 under case number 16-11791.
