Talen Energy Supply wants 105-day extension for exclusive period

Chicago, Sept. 6 – Talen Energy Supply LLC is requesting a 105-day extension for its exclusive filing period for a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

The solicitation period would likewise be extended, but for 45 days.

This would bring the extensions through Dec. 20.

Currently, the company has the support from holders of more than 83% of the principal amount of the unsecured notes, more than 86% of the principal amount of the debtors’ prepetition CAF claims, around 97% principal amount of prepetition term loan B claims, approximately 48% of the principal amount of the secured notes and the debtors’ sole existing equity holder.

Talen Energy anticipates filing a proposed Chapter 11 plan and a proposed disclosure statement in the coming days, by the Sept. 15 milestone.

A hearing to approve the disclosure statement has been tentatively scheduled for Oct. 26, and a hearing to consider confirmation of the plan has been tentatively scheduled for Dec. 15.

This is the company’s first request for an extension.

Houston-based Talen Energy Supply is one of the largest competitive power generation and infrastructure companies in North America. The company filed bankruptcy on May 9 under Chapter 11 case number 22-90054.
