Malaysia’s Maybank redeems all non-innovative tier 1 securities

Morgantown, W.Va., June 27 – Malayan Banking Bhd. (Maybank) announced it redeemed in full its outstanding non-innovative tier 1 capital on June 27.

The redeemed securities consisted of non-cumulative perpetual capital securities issued by Maybank stapled to subordinated notes issued by wholly owned subsidiary Cekap Mentari Bhd.

Maybank issued the original RM 3.5 billion of non-innovative tier 1 capital securities on June 27, 2008.

The commercial and retail bank is based in Kuala Lumpur.
