Moody's rates Maybank notes A3

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an A3 long-term foreign-currency senior unsecured debt rating to Malayan Banking Bhd.'s (Maybank) HK$300 million floating-rate notes issued under the bank's $15 billion multi-currency medium term note program.

The $300 million notes will mature in January 2021.

The outlook is stable.

The rating assigned to the notes is in line with Maybank's A3 foreign-currency bank deposit rating and the provisional A3 foreign-currency rating assigned to the program, the agency explained.

The notes constitute the unconditional, unsubordinated and unsecured obligations of Maybank, Moody's said, and rank pari passu with its other senior unsecured obligations.
