Mississippi Phosphates marks $3 million loss in January; sales down

New York, March 13 – Mississippi Phosphates Corp. posted an operating loss of $3 million for January on $141,000 in net sales, according to is monthly operating report filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.

In December, the company reported an operating loss of $35.72 million and net sales of $181.2 million.

Mississippi Phosphates’ net loss for January was $3.16 million, improving from $43.86 million in December.

The company had available cash holdings of $2.34 million at Jan. 31, dropping from $4.79 million at the end of December.

Mississippi Phosphates, a Pascagoula, Miss., fertilizer company, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 27. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-51667.
