Yukos sues for $20 billion

By Ellen Chang

Houston, Feb. 14 - Yukos Oil Co. sued Gazprom, Gazpromneft, Baikal Finance Group and Rosneft for $20 billion for their alleged role in expropriating Yuganskneftgaz in December 2004 in what Yukos claims is a violation of the automatic stay in the Yukos Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.

Yukos also continued to sue agent bank, Deutsche Bank, to enjoin it from violating the automatic stay in Yukos' Chapter 11 case. Yukos did not sue Deutsche Bank for damages, as it did with the other four defendants.

Yukos' Chapter 11 case number is 04-47742 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
