Young Broadcasting gets one-week extension to exclusive filing period

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 17 - Young Broadcasting Inc. has obtained a one-week extension to its exclusive period for filing a plan of reorganization, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Specifically, the exclusive plan-filing period has been extended to Sept. 24 from Sept. 17. In addition, the company's exclusive vote solicitation period was extended to Nov. 23 from Oct. 22.

As previously reported, Young's official committee of unsecured creditors asked the court to terminate the company's exclusivity in August.

However, the committee and Young's pre-bankruptcy lenders have agreed to the brief extension to allow the company to finalize and file its plan, according to Thursday's filing.

New York-based Young Broadcasting owns 10 television stations and the national representation firm Adam Young Inc. The company filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 13, 2009. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-10645.
