Westar Energy to price $250 million 30-year mortgage bonds Thursday

New York, March 21- Westar Energy, Inc. is planning to price a $250 million sale of 30-year mortgage bonds (A3/A-/A-) during Thursday's session, according to a market source and 424B5 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Bookrunners are BofA Merrill Lynch, BNY Mellon Capital Markets LLC and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.

Proceeds are being used to provide long-term funds to finance an ongoing capital program.

The electric utility is based in Topeka, Kan.
