Wells Fargo launches Natalie Cohen's municipal bond research

By Melissa Kory

Cleveland, Nov. 3 - Wells Fargo Securities launched research on recent municipal bond headlines in a report titled Unpacking the Headlines by Natalie Cohen, managing director and senior municipal bond research analyst.

"The municipal bond market is large and diverse," Cohen said in a news release. "The frequent headlines that forecast a meltdown mask this diversity. I look forward to offering investors fresh thinking on the key issues that affect these markets."

In her report, Cohen acknowledges financial challenges among state and local governments. However, she disagrees that frequently cited examples are evidence of "systemic" risk in the sector.

"Natalie brings deep industry expertise and a unique perspective that will help investors better understand this important and evolving market," Diane Schumaker-Krieg, global head of research and economics, said in a news release.

In her report, Cohen examines recent headlines including the failed Harrisburg, Pa., incinerator project, which she believes is not a symptom of broader problems.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Cohen founded the independent consulting and research company National Municipal Research, Inc., served as a managing director at Financial Security Assurance, and worked for American Capital Access, Enhance Reinsurance/Asset Guaranty (now Radian), New York City's Office of Management and Budget and Moody's Investors Service.

Wells Fargo Securities is part of the financial services company Wells Fargo & Co.
