Wells Fargo plans issue of notes linked to S&P 500, Euro Stoxx 50, Nikkei

By Jennifer Chiou

New York, Jan. 9 - Wells Fargo & Co. said it plans to issue 0% principal-protected minimum return notes linked to a world equity index basket due February 2011, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The basket will be comprised of the S&P 500 index, Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 index and Nikkei 225 index, all with equal weights.

At maturity, noteholders will receive par plus a minimum return amount to be determined on the pricing date within a range between $130.00 and $150.00 per $1,000 principal amount of notes.

The payout will be based on the performance of the three indexes on valuation dates that fall on the last trading day of January between 2007 and 2011.

The notes will not be callable and will not be listed on any exchange.

Wells Fargo Securities, LLC will be the underwriter.
