Icahn to join WCI Communities' board of directors

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 30 - WCI Communities, Inc. shareholders elected to the board current directors Don E. Ackerman, Charles E. Cobb Jr. and Hilliard M. Eure, III.

Also elected to WCI's board were Carl C. Icahn, Keith Meister and David Schechter of the Icahn Group, Craig W. Thomas, a portfolio manager at S.A.C. Capital Advisors, LLC, Nick Graziano, a managing director of Sandell Asset Management Corp., and Yale Law professor Jonathan R. Macey.

It was previously reported that Icahn ended a proxy battle with WCI and agreed to support WCI's nominees and WCI agreed to nominate Icahn's slate.

Shareholders also ratified the appointment of Ernst & Young LLP as the company's independent registered public accounting firm for the upcoming year, a company news release stated.

WCI is a Bonita Springs, Fla., builder of master-planned lifestyle communities.
