S&P rates Baylor University, Texas, bonds AA-

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its AA- rating to Waco Education Finance Corp.'s $112.7 million of revenue refunding bonds, series 2008C, issued on behalf of Baylor University.

The 2008C bonds are expected to settle April 7 and mature Feb. 1, 2040.

The series 2008A, B and C bonds are being issued to refund a portion of the outstanding principal amount of the series 2002 and 2006 bonds.

The rating on the series 2008A and 2008B variable-rate demand bonds for $80 million, respectively, will reflect the long-term rating of the university; a short-term rating will reflect a standby bond purchase agreement with JPMorgan Chase. The series 2008C series is being sold as fixed-rate debt.
