New Issue: Wachovia sells $10.7 million 0% notes linked to Nikkei

New York, Jan. 31 - Wachovia Corp. sold $10,703,390 of 0% principal-protected notes due June 30, 2009 linked to the Nikkei 225 index, according to a 424B5 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes offer 92% principal protection.

At maturity, investors will receive any percentage gain in the index. Holders will participate in any decline, with a floor of 92%. Because the payout is linked to the percentage change in the index rather than the dollar value of the stocks underlying the index, there is no currency risk.
