Vulcan Materials files automatic shelf registration

Knoxville, Tenn., Dec. 3 - Vulcan Materials Co. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The securities covered under the filing are debt securities, common stock, preference stock, depository shares, warrants, stock purchase contracts and stock purchase units. The debt securities may be convertible.

Proceeds will be added to the company's general funds and used to repay debt, retire commercial paper, finance any increase in working capital, finance acquisitions and for general corporate purposes.

Vulcan Materials, based in Birmingham, Ala., produces construction aggregates and other construction materials.
