Virginia Electric and Power files automatic shelf registration

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 29 - Virginia Electric and Power Co. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers mortgage bonds, senior debt securities and junior subordinated notes.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used to finance capital expenditures, retire or redeem preferred stock or debt securities and for other general corporate purposes.

The utility is based in Richmond, Va.
