Russia's VimpelCom announces $300 million notes offering

By Reshmi Basu

New York, March 31 - VimpelCom formally announced that it will issue $300 million notes to refinance debt in the second quarter.

The deal is bigger than previous expectations that the Moscow-based telecommunications provider would issue a $200 million offering.

The maturity for the bonds is expected to be three to five years.

JP Morgan and UBS Investment Bank are expected to be the underwriters for the Rule 144A/Regulation S deal.

The deal is expected to close in the second quarter.
