Fitch assigns Viacom notes BBB+

Fitch Ratings said it assigned a BBB+ rating to Viacom Inc.'s benchmarked sized proposed issuance of five-, 10- and 30-year senior notes.

The company currently has a BBB+ issuer default rating.

The outlook is stable.

Fitch said the key ratings drivers include: Sufficient capacity exists within the current ratings to accommodate Viacom's current share repurchase plans; Viacom's portfolio of cable networks and leading global brands underpin the ratings; Viacom's track record of conservative financial policies and strategies; and business and financial risks are comparable with BBB+-rated media peers.
