S&P rates Verizon notes A-

Standard & Poor's said it assigned its A- issue-level rating to Verizon Communications Inc.'s proposed notes issuance of a currently unspecified amount.

The agency said it expects the bulk of proceeds to be used for debt repayment.

The existing ratings on Verizon, including the A- corporate credit rating and A-2 short-term rating, remain unchanged. The outlook is stable.

The A- rating reflects the company's strong business risk profile and intermediate financial risk profile.
