Fitch rates Verizon notes A-

Fitch Ratings said it assigned an A- rating to Verizon Communications Inc.'s $1 billion of 1.5% senior unsecured notes due 2030. Verizon’s issuer default rating is A-. with a stable outlook.

The proceeds will be used in the financing or refinancing, in whole or in part, of eligible green investments, including facilities that transmit or generate renewable energy, such as solar energy and wind energy. Eligible green investments include new and existing investments made by Verizon from July 1 through the maturity date of the notes that meet eligibility criteria.

In August, Verizon reported the final allocation of its first green bond, with more than $950 million of the nearly $1 billion in net proceeds going toward renewable energy and green buildings, Fitch said.
