By Ashley Montgomery

Kansas City, Kan., Oct. 6 - VelocityShares LLC has appointed Scott Weiner managing director and head of quantitative strategy, according to a company news release.

"VelocityShares has quickly established a reputation as a leader in providing value-added analysis and trading strategies," said Nick Cherney, co-founder and chief investment officer in the news release. "The addition of Scott to the team will cement our role as one of the most sophisticated providers in the exchange-traded products market, and we are confident that investors will benefit from his substantial insight."

Institutional Investor magazine has ranked Weiner among the top ten Wall Street equity research analysts for client responsiveness and investment ideas, the news release said.

"Investors are only beginning to unlock the potential that comes with incorporating exchange-traded leveraged and volatility products in their portfolios," said Weiner in the release. "VelocityShares is at the frontier of a new investing paradigm, and I look forward to my new role and to contributing to the ongoing development of innovative strategies for the world's most sophisticated investors."

Weiner was formerly U.S. head of equity derivatives and quantitative strategy at Deutsche Bank.

VelocityShares develops products that help traders manage market views, risks and exposures. The company is based in Darien, Conn.
