USG gets new judge for Chapter 11 case

By Jeff Pines

Washington, Jan. 7 - USG and a committee of unsecured creditors got what they wanted: a new judge. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Mary Walrath reassigned the case to Judge Judith Fitzgerald, according to a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The Chicago-based building products company and the committee filed motions to remove Judge Alfred Wolin from the case. They alleged the judge had hundreds of hours of inappropriate conversations with other parties involved in the case over asbestos claims.
