USEC asks court to approve three-month extension of exclusive periods

By Kali Hays

New York, June 10 – USEC, Inc. is seeking a 90-day extension of its exclusive plan of reorganization filing and solicitation periods, according to a June 10 motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company asked that its exclusive filing period be extended through Oct. 1 from July 3 and its solicitation period through Nov. 30 from Sept. 1.

As the hearing to approve the proposed disclosure statement related to its plan of reorganization has been adjourned to July 7, the company asked for the extension “to continue to pursue confirmation of the consensual plan to ensure a successful emergence from bankruptcy without the distraction of competing, third-party Chapter 11 plans,” according to the motion.

The motion will be considered at the already-scheduled July 7 hearing.

USEC, a Bethesda, Md.-based supplier of nuclear fuel and advanced technology services, filed for bankruptcy on March 5. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-10475.
