US Air gets extensions to exclusivity

Washington, Jan. 5 - US Airways Inc. obtained extensions to its exclusive right to file a reorganization plan and its exclusive right to solicit votes for the plan.

The order extending the Arlington, Va.-based airline's time to file to March 31 from Jan. 10 and its exclusive right to solicit votes to June 30 from March 11 was filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia Tuesday.

US Airways previously said it needed the extensions just in case it needs to make changes to its plans and to get input from major stakeholders before the company submits the plan.

The airline said it plans to emerge from bankruptcy by June 30.

US Airways filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 12. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-13819.
