US Airways posts $10.45 million May operating loss

Pittsburgh, June 28 - US Airways Group Inc. reported a $10.45 million operating loss for May on sales of $625.3 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
In April, the company posted $7 million in operating income on sales of $641.92 million.
The net loss for May was $39.7 million, up from a $30.63 million net loss in April.
Cash and cash equivalents on May 31 were $559.29 million, compared to $535.68 million at the end of April.
The Arlington, Va.-based airline filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 12, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-13819.
