US Airways requests exclusivity extensions to file plan, solicit votes
By Caroline Salls
Pittsburgh, May 31 - US Airways, Inc. requested an extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
The company wants to extend its exclusive period to file a plan to June 30 from May 31 and to solicit votes to Oct. 31 from Aug. 31.
US Airways said it is working on formulating a plan that incorporates the recently announced merger with America West Holdings Corp. as the primary basis for its emergence from bankruptcy.
The company also cited the size and complexity of its bankruptcy case as grounds for an extension.
US Airways requested the motion be heard at the next scheduled omnibus hearing on June 23.
The Arlington, Va.-based carrier filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 12, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-13819.
